Love The Skin You’re In
Being a woman in today’s society can be frustrating at times. With society telling you what you should look like, how you should act, and even how you should feel when you don’t fit in with society’s view of an “ideal woman.” It’s time to change the narrative that all women should be thin and tall models who are quiet and reserved. It’s time to truly embrace what it means to say “I love myself just the way I am.”
Here are some tips to help improve your self confidence and embrace your own unique beauty.
1. Use positive affirmations daily.
Every morning you wake up is a new day and set the intentions for the day say phrases like “I’m confident, beautiful, and I deserve love.” It might seem silly at first but what you’re doing is reprogramming your subconscious to recognize positive feelings about yourself. When you are constantly bombarded by advertisements, television shows, and social media constantly portraying people who don’t look like you enjoying their lives it takes a toll on your subconscious.
2. Treat yourself to the best personal care products.
Sometimes a soothing bath or shower with the best smelling bath and body products help set a mood and make you feel good about yourself. Making sure you smell good is important but using the right products for your skin makes all the world of difference and can be beneficial to your health as well. Check out our Bath & Body Collection for some new scents.
3. Modify your daily routine and make small but healthy changes to your diet.
If you are not physically active consider adding some form of exercise to your routine. It could be walking, bike riding, or my personal favorite Zumba. Start off with 2 to 3 days a week and work your way up to a minimum of 5-6 days a week. Also consider healthier meal choices like adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet and cutting back on foods that are full of fat and high in sugar or salt content. If you need help from experts enlist the help of nutritionist and fitness experts.
4. Surround yourself with a great emotional support team.
Having friends and family to support you is always key to your mental and emotional well-being. And if you’re unable to contact them it’s best to have a secondary support system. We’ve created an online community where women can discuss their femininity and share their journey of self love and care as get support from other members. However if your situation is starting to make you feel hopeless we ask that you seek professional help from a therapist specializing in dealing with depression. According to the CDC, women are 2X more likely to develop depression in comparison to men.
5. Wear clothes that make you feel confident and good about yourself
Body shamming has been around for decades and it has only gotten worse with the rise of the Body Positive movement. But you have to change your mindset and learn not to concern yourself with what other people think about your appearance. If you feel like wearing something revealing and you find it in your size wear it. You’d be surprised to find out people don’t really care what you wear as much as you do. Just make sure you don’t pull a Lizzo at the Lakers game. Read the room ladies, don’t show up to work or out in public with assless chaps. But seriously embrace your curves. Be comfortable in the body you have now.
6. Practice wearing seductive intimates.
Now I know this may be a challenge for some of you ladies however, if you want to appreciate your body in its current state you have to get out your comfort zone. Dress up in your sexist negligee or babydoll and stand in front of the mirror. Study your body, the curves, the way your hips are proportioned to your body, determine if you have a short or long torso, and figure out what your body’s best asset. Once you’ve done that appreciate and admire all the positive things about your body. If a negative feeling or thought arises acknowledge it but don’t focus on it. Redirect your focus to finding positive feelings and thoughts about your body. Don’t have anything sexy enough check out our curated Lingerie Collection.
